his name ? sergei diaghilev

twas russian born and raised
he tried composing music
but his efforts were not praised
but yet his love of opera
was enough to pull him through
in nineteen and eleven
he began the ballet russes
they said that he was touch as nails
perfection was his thing
but grand was his benevolence
to ones beneath his wing
he had a fear of drowning
shunned all waters, by design
he died of diabetes
back in nineteen twenty nine
twas laid to rest eternal
on the isle of san michelle
and he still has admirers
who show up to wish him well
they often bring him presents
in exchange for what he gave
and a row of ballet slippers
are left dancing on his grave
