we're dancing with no music

but inside of us, a thread
a woven script of music
that is playing in our head
the people who surround us
shake their heads and think us mad
but stares do not concern us
when there's magic to be had
we're dipping and we're swaying
and we never miss a beat
we ride a tandem wavelength
for telepathy's complete
the air's alive with music
that is forming from within
with perfect syncopation
like a womb that's bearing twins
with fingers locked together
and our eyes locked even more
we wriggle to the rhythm
and we scuttle to the score
our toes alive and tapping
twenty piggies all on cue
we've lost our shoes and socks somewhere
but do not have a clue
we're dancing with no music
we don't follow, we don't lead
the music dwells inside us
and that's all we really need
