in search of wonderland

i'm envious of alice
and her trip to wonderland
and how she reached it's borders
i will never understand
i tried to make a visit
through a looking glass one night
i only smashed the mirror
and my headache was a fright
and so i took my search outside
and looked for rabbit holes
but all that i encountered
were the ones dug out by moles
but even then i realized
that holes designed by hares
would never be quite large enough
so i sought out some bears
i know that in the wintertime
most bears will hibernate
and down these holes i knew i'd find
my wonderland's front gate
one very cold december day
i followed one bear's path
and down i went into it's lair
oh what an aftermath !
the bear was sleeping at the end
it seemed he would not budge
i knew to get to wonderland
i'd have to give a nudge
the bear awakened right away
i soon was on the run
now bears can race at twenty per
i managed twenty-one
so i gave up on bruin dens
made rabbits' nests my goal
and i would find some sort of tool
to widen up the hole
i found a hole a hare had made
and grabbed my little trowel
but digging was laborious
and made my mood quite foul
and so i fetched some dynamite
and plunged it down the chute
i waited for the mighty blast
alas, the air was mute
and so i crept up to the edge
the fuse has failed to catch
i leaned in far as i could go
and lit another match
and now i am in wonderland
as far as i can tell
the book had never warned me
that the place was hot as hell
