painting and dancing

life is like a painting
if examined near to eye
you'll see the swirling textures
where the paint was left to dry

but when you're standing further
all those cracks just fade away
you only see the beauty
of the artist's brush at play

life is like a painting
when those swirling colors spin
and all becomes confusing
just step back to take it in

life is quite like dancing
and if grace we hope to earn
we have to know the movements
and with patience, we will learn

when one begins a dance step
it is wise to start off slow
to find out what the hands must do
and where the feet must go

life is quite like dancing
if the tempo gets too quick
and all becomes confusing
then some slowing does the trick
