hot coffee and sweet kisses

start my morning really great
we grind it up, add H2O
and let it percolate
we don't use instant coffee
we don't mind a little wait
that gives me time to kiss and hug
my little coffee mate
we have a little coffee nook
its really cute and snug
we pour each other brimming cups
and then we take a slug
she gives me seconds if i want
i never have to bug
she fills my thermos up for me
and then i kiss her mug
we don't care much for alcohol
although it has its place
we'd rather share a cup of joe
and pour it in our face
i never yearn for chai or tea
that never is the case
there's always maxwell in our house
i'm sanborn to her chase
sometimes we add some fancy creams
and other times just black
we also store some decaf too
when we don't need the jack
we may not dine on ham and eggs
nor biscuits for a snack
but teeming cups of java juice
ain't something that we lack
we don't need any sugar
for our kisses are so sweet
and sometimes at the coffee house
for luncheon we will meet
we find our favorite table
and we have ourselves a seat
hot coffee and sweet kisses
make my day feel so complete
its better when its steamy
no one likes it when its cold
its better when its creamy
not so great when it gets old
its better when its dreamy
and the taste of it is bold
and its the same for coffee too
at least so i am told
