every child needs a protector
and a soul to be in charge
for each day through
to help them through
their troubles, small and large
an angel, ever loving
with a passion, strong and true
while birds are nesting in the trees
they'll wrap their arms 'round you
a child is prone to nightmares
that are filled with stress and strife
too small in size
to realize
its not their waking life
but an angel can come find them
even in a slumber, deep
while the moon is watching o'er the earth
they'll guard you as you sleep
a child's day brings adventure
with a host of things to learn
they must embrace
things filled with grace
and shy from things that burn
and an angel stands beside them
and there's nothing that they miss
while the dawn is waiting for the sun
they'll wake you with a kiss
