paul heard it on the radio

announcing ticket sales
for coming to his very town
the orchestra of whales
that truly was amazing
what a joyous sight to see
he got online reserving seats
for him and girlfriend, dee
he knew she loved aquatics
just as well, a symphony
oh what a doubly fun surprise
for his dear sweetheart, dee
he told his buddy, larry
'bout the tickets he had bought
and larry started howling
couldn't stem the laughs that brought
"you nut, you must be crazy
that's the orchestra of WALES
no way an ocean mammal
ever musically regales"
now paul felt rather foolish
but he'd take dee just the same
so glad he'd held his secret back
to save himself from shame
he picked her up and off they went
she didn't know just where
arriving at the venue
quite a multitude was there
the doorman took their tickets
and they wandered down the aisle
and looking up in wonder
paul and dee began to smile
for paul was now delighted
and he didn't feel so dumb
cause up upon the stage
there stood a huge aquarium
the house lights started dimming
and they quickly took their seats
and settled for an evening
of some rare symphonic treats
the whales swam into view then
and their songs began to mix
their slapping tails in rhythm
full of acrobatic tricks
they began with "water music"
handel would have been so proud
then dove into "la mer"
claude debussy would clap out loud
at the end of the performance
dee and paul and all went wild
the whales lined up and bowed
and then they swam off single file
there'd been a lot of concerts
but comparisons would pale
for what could be more special
than an orchestra of whales
