weaving tales and lives

we traded all our memories

the good ones and the bad
the tragic and the magical
the joyous and the sad
let all of our adventures spill
the foolish and the brave
the chances on romances
some were taken, some we gave
the landscape of our history
has formed our present states
what once had been a mystery
enlightened by the fates
the rambling curves of fortune
led us here to intersect
there's been merging and converging
so our lives can resurrect
things are present in the present
that are destined to change shape
through an exodus from misery
the splendor of escape
and the future, we'll experience
together holding hands
in a perfect syncopation
we'll explore each other's lands
for the past, we'll be uncaring
for the future's ours to grasp
and we'll never lose our bearings
for our hands will not unclasp
