the music of the beatles

was the soundtrack of my youth
their melodies enriched my soul
their lyrics spoke the truth
in nineteen sixty seven
i heard rumors paul was dead
and secret hidden messages
was how the news was spread
number nine reversing
changed to "turn me on, dead man"
i heard it was a look alike
that joined up with the band
paul was walking barefoot
wearing roses colored black
the three of them faced forward
while paul simply showed his back
at the end of a recording
john remarked, "i buried paul"
a license plate on abbey road
apparently told all
i might have wrecked some needles
going backward through the groove
i certainly felt shivers
searching for the hints to prove
good things can't last forever
and the beatles turned to dust
but "all you need is love", they said
in that you still can trust
