you found a love you thought would last

but now it lives just in the past
yet every day you still can see her face
your heart still beats, but much too fast
for she controls the thermostat
and thinking of her only makes it race
you thought you'd figured out the dance
the tricky steps of true romance
but found you were deserted on the floor
she left without a second glance
the one who never took a chance
will be the ghost that haunts forevermore
you try to figure what went wrong
what caused the ending of the song
when you were waiting for the second verse
epiphanies that once were strong
were mysteries before too long
the blessing you received became a curse
what you thought true was just a lie
a nightmare spoiled your lullaby
your song became a game without a score
as flimsy as a butterfly
the one you loved who passed you by
will be the ghost that haunts forevermore
