you were the majorette

inside a sequined uniform
in your grasp was a baton
a lightning rod to tame the storm
now, you're just another marcher
in my lifetime's vast parade
the photograph of you
that's in my heart
begins to fade
you were the sharpest shooter
with my enemies in sight
your finger on the trigger
with your target locked in tight
now, you're just another soldier
in my lifetime's cavalcade
the photograph of you
that's in my heart
begins to fade
you were the leading lady
with a line in every scene
your face in vibrant colors
looming large upon the screen
now, you're just a background player
in my lifetime's escapade
the photograph of you
that's in my heart
begins to fade
