when i awoke this morning

i discovered something wrong
a day without its sunshine
words a-scatter with no song
the sculpture of my life
is now a rusty piece of junk
nothing could be sadder
than a skunk who's lost it's funk
just yesterday i had it
twas as strong as hercules
a stunning smell so hellish
that it brought one to their knees
but now there's no aroma
and to new depths i have sunk
nothing could be sadder
than a skunk who's lost it's funk
bereft of my defenses
when encountering some foe
i turn my tail a-running
there's no blasting that will flow
i've lost all my charisma
like a mindless foggy drunk
nothing could be sadder
than a skunk who's lost it's funk
for the colors of my odor
and the fierceness of my fight
have now become a skeleton
of furry black and white
and now i only cower
when before i proudly stunk
nothing could be sadder
than a skunk who's lost it's funk
