i sat transfixed

the moon was conducting its nightly service

the wind bowed the tree limbs as violins

the crickets chirped a steady percussion

the night birds added scat as the coyotes howled the blues

the roar of a nearby river underscored all with majesty

the campfire snapped its fingers in approval

and the fireflies were dancing notes in the black page sky

it is a song that will never be captured on paper

it is a song that will never be forgotten

for it is written by God
