i wish i knew the difference
'tween the ocean and the sea
the length of time forever
versus mere eternity
do prayers have greater power
when they're dealt from on one's knee
or am i just a product of misguided chemistry ?
i wish i knew the difference
'tween the sacred and profane
the reasoning of lunatics
the logic of the sane
i hear we just use ten percent
of matter in our brain
would we become like god ourselves
if more we could obtain ?
i wish i knew the difference
'tween the barking of a dog
the singing of a human
and the croaking of a frog
it all boils down to language
versus mindless dialogue
our ears must be a lighthouse
to help dissipate the fog
i wish i knew the difference
but i guess i never will
i only know there's bound to be
more blood and tears to spill
will my spirit rise to heaven
while my bones lie 'neath a hill ?
i search the sky for answers
but the clouds do not fulfill
