let's talk about the zebra
the critter first to light
we know its true because the beast
just came in black and white
but zebras see in color
and although no one knows why
zebras are immune
from sickness caused by tse tse flies
the females of the species
by age three are up to tricks
but the male cannot reciprocate
until the age of six
when calm their ears are quite erect
when angry the fall back
and they'll be pushing forward
when in fear of an attack
they say the zebra got its name
while fighting a baboon
the zebra kicked the monkey hard
then fell with a kaboom
into a fire the creature went
and screamed with all its might
the fire then scorched the beast for life
leaving burn marks on its white
they say these stripes bring safety
camouflaged in grassy glades
for lions see in black and white
or else just gray like shades
and of course man hunts the zebra
for his skins, they'll do them harm
but Botswana honors this grand beast
on it's country's coat of arms
