Get Through...

I'm not sure what made me write this. This is a poem in a mother or father's way of seeing their kids.

I remember the first time I held you
Your little hands
Your little feet
I said to myself
How are you going to get through
Will I get through
I remember the night
You were sick
I held you tight
I didn't want to lose you now
I will help you get through
I remember you crying
As you stepped on the bus
You wanted to stay home
But you needed to go to school
You were still at the age
For boo boos and hurt feelings
I was always at home waiting for you
You grew more and more each year
Suddenly my being there was not important
You went on your own
Every night I think to myself
How am I going to get through
My love for you all prevailed
I knew you guys would love me
You are all growing up
Making your own choices
Adolescent age doesn't let you see me
I'm still here
I know what you are going through
I was there
Friends
Peer Pressure
Insecurities
Unknown results of your choices
Feeling Invincible
It's your life now
Your choices
Good or bad
I'm still here to help you
But the choices you make are the ones
That lead your life
I'm still here to help us get through...
