My Heart Skips a Beat
All is silent.
You don’t make a sound, and neither do I.
I can’t believe my ears, I can’t believe what you’ve said…
My heart seems to skip a beat, and does not revive.
You were not my everything,
But…
You were a large part of why I still get up every day,
Why I strive to see your face and talk to you.
The reason I find the will to live.
All the hours I’ve spent with you, all the days I’ve been with you, simply doing nothing,
And now, it all comes back around, crashing down on me.
I loved—
I love you with every fiber of my being, I will fight for my love to be heard by you;
If it weren’t for you, I’m not sure I would still be alive.
The funny thing is, I always assumed, that you loved me to.
But now…
Now, you say something completely different.
You don’t love me.
Are you blind? Is that why you don’t see how much I care for you, how much we need each other to support one another?
…Did you ever even love me in the first place?
Do not lie; I know you did.
Yet I find myself alone, when I reach out for you to be there.
So as you leave, saying that you do not love me,
My heart skips a beat.
And does not revive.
