When I woke up something was wrong
something was missing
for there was no song
no song in the air
no song on the trees
something was wrong indeed
i raced downstairs
to make sure everything was okay
then I saw it
the Mockingbird's Song
it was lying in the middle of the floor
with nothing to protect it from dirt or dust
nothing to keep it from the right and wrong of the world
the Mockingbird's Song
i was looking for something to patch it up
something to help the Mockingbird's wing
it was upset
it was trying to fly away
but i had to tend to it
before something took it away
i brought it up to my room
i cleaned up its wing, not too bad
i looked out my window, still no song
no birds inspired by the Mockingbird's song
i needed to use the restroom but something kept me from
then i heard a growl
my dog was at the door
it ran to me and took the bird
took it away to never be found
with the bird in it's mouth it took down the stairs
then finally crashed into the sofa
it knocked the bird out of it's mouth and onto the floor
i picked it up and held it and said you can do this
then like in a instant, the bird was healed
it took off out of the open window
and it started it's song
I listened to it's beautiful song
it was wonderful
to tell the other's it is day
i started to look away
happy to say i helped
the Mockingbird's song
