Staring at the mirror, masked

Reflections never show your true side. (Inspired by a song)

I stare at the mirror

I see a boy

with a broad smile

upon his face

yet

a slight but conspicuous crack

on his fragile heart

Years after years

he had been wearing

that hideous

smiling mask

that he despised most

no one knows

how much he hates

convincing everyone that he's fine

deceiving the whole world around him

Heaven knows

how he longed for the day

when he can tear up the mask

destroy it into pieces

and let all sees

his genuine side

his true emotions

Alas, no

it cannot be done

he knows

that his genuine side

is shameful

repugnant

to his loved ones

No,

he cannot risk losing them

even if he knows

they'd hate him

From day one

since that mask

adhered itself upon his face

my face

we're clear

it's inevitable

the day we yearn most

is

our demise
