I used to know this little lass

Who'd sit on the counter and watch me cook

Or sit on my knee as I read her a book

So young and sweet with long dark hair

An image of her mother, Oh so fair

But years did pass and the miles grew

And her poor uncle knew not what to do

Then one eave sat at his screen

And wondered at the words he'd seen

For Valentine's Day did quickly draw near

And little funds caused him to fear

And now Not such a young lass was she

All grown up, a beautiful women to be

In the years past he would write for her ma

The saddest excuse for poems that anyone saw

Then idea he had to write for his niece

Once again a poem for the not such a feast

But in hope I do fiddle with every single line

So for you there may be a good Valentine.
