The Wandering Minstrel

The wandering minstrel plays a lonesome tune

As he gazes on high at the silvery moon

Alone he has been his whole life long

Though for years he still plays his merry song

The love he once had faded long ago

His true love ran away, to where he did not know

She left him full of sorrow, his heart full of pain

He knew no happiness for him would remain

As long as the day, as still as the night

This lonely Minstrel still plays, to others delight

Resigned to his fate, to others he plays

In the hope they find happiness, for the rest of their days

By Nicholas Saunders Aged 30 ½
