There’s a latte breeze this morning

That cushions me here in my bed

The sun slowly climbs my window

But the rain outside drowns my head

And there’s a couple in the hallway

Who are talking breakfast TV

It’s about as deep as the weatherman

But at least he knows when it’s raining

The neighbours play Bruce Springsteen

And sing along to ‘Brothers on the bridge’

But I’m staying here a little longer

Because hell, I like to think I earned it

Now the car alarms are ringing out

That’s the second time this week

So the neighbours turn Bruce up louder

And the couple in the hall start shouting!

I close my eyes- I’m not here

Venice, Prague, Paris, maybe Rome

But London keeps on calling me back

Where the rain won’t leave me alone!

Hi Katie, I sometimes go with the head phones, especially because I work nights. Noise or not, I can't help smilling when I'm going to bed and everyone else is getting up lol. Thanks for the lovely comment. ~ Nixie

I should close my eyes

Good to have you back with us, hope it was a good trip! Thanks for catching up with my work. ~ Nixie

Love this. It makes me wish I lived in a more compact community. Midwestern America is too spread out (for my taste anyway). I called in sick to work today, just because. Before I could crawl back in bed, I had to get my son ready and take him to school. But it reminds me of the feeling I had drifting back to sleep once I got home : )

I live in a busy town, though nothing like central London it does wake up early, but at least the neighbours have good taste in music! It's a nice feeling going back to bed like that; I just tend to giggle with excitement lol. Thanks Tina! ~ Nixie

Nothing better than to hear the rain pounding outside the window when you're tucked up in bed... agreed though not on a work day when you have to walk out in it, but at least you didn't have DUFFY waking you up....... Damn I hate her!

Hah! I don't think I even know her music, I know of her, blonde haired woman - just can't recall what song it is. You know how it is after those night shifts, sleep through anything! :) ~ Nixie

this is very nice!
