The Man From The Flats

From an abandoned outlook
My eyes set on him
Weaving across the flats
In a heat haze

An exchange of distant passwords
We crept closer
And drank together and seeded the sky

A heart like his deserved mountains
Some punctuated horizon
Geography failed him
I swore I would not

Stunning brilliant, vibrant imagery. "Weaving across the flats
In a heat haze"

It's a bit Sergio Leone, but fits the bill. Thanks for your comment, matmoo!

Fantastic, especially then ending:
"Some punctuated horizon
Geography failed him"

Sergio Leone, well yes I can see what you mean in terms of the image it builds. I like!

Thank you Mr Wilts - most kind.

Reminds me of the three fates and their forever winding web! I'm really enjoying your work October. ~ KB

Why thank you, KB - the feeling is mutual!

The image it conjures, I love it! The feeling is both that of familiarity, but equally mystery.. I get a picture of hot dusty reds and a cool turquoise sky.

Thanks Logan! Yes, it has got that sort of feel - though not intentional when I wrote it. Think this one's definitely my 'western'!

So powerful.
i do not want to weaken that comment with other thoughts.
So powerful.

but did you?

What do you think?

I don't wish to know of course, for that ambivalence is what make the poem what it is above and beyond the imagery.
This is: maybes aye or maybes naw in poetry; that keeps the reader thinking and keep a group of creative writer hopefuls going forever.

That's what i'd hoped you'd say! Thanks, cartera.

Thank you Terry.

I quite like this. I'm not usually a huge poetry fan but this is nice.

Why thank you.

I love the ambiguity of this, did you, didn't you, if he knows is he aware?

Brilliant, no more, no less. :-)
