So this is the second poem that I wrote from xxmimixx's challenge. My muse was Within Temptation's "The Truth Beneath the Rose". I decided to take a more symbolic approach and tell a story about a naive girl who only wanted to find the truth in her life, but instead all she finds is the ugliness in people, because once you look behind the soft petals of the rose, the rest isn't so pretty.

I'll add a picture when I get home :)

Hateful wind whipped at her gown
Her feet clinging to the last of ground
For on she stood the deadly cliffs
To cling for herself her jaded bliss
Beneath her hungry waters roared
Eager to consume her once she soared
The last she figured on her tidy list
Was that the end must come to this

'For God my actions are not justified'
Into fading light she cried
'Alas tonight I lost my innocence
'My hands bloodied with irreverence
'For in my journey to seek the truth
'I lost my being an untroubled youth
'I came from purity, good and clean
'But now am burdened with beast unseen

'The day you asked me as your wife
'I had never thought to take a life
'But on the day we would be wed
'I find her lying in your bed
'And not a thought would see my mind
'Until in my hand your heart I find
'And in my left, it follows true
'Until in it holds her heart, too

'And in my heart I never knew
'That I could do these things to you
'But now I know this at the least
'That in my breast I hold this beast
'And to myself I ask what I've done
'When I lived my life like a nun
'How was this possible, how was it fair
'And was there a time I did ever care

'This is the darkest side of me
'And now the only one I can be
'So this is how it must end
'For I committed the greatest sin
'Into the sea I must plunge
'So that my soul might be expunged
'Please give me strength to face this truth
'And end me my troubled youth'

And into the roiling sea she fell
Without a shout, a scream, or yell
.
