Mikey, our band, Evanescence! The word evanescence actually means something :) It's an adjective for something that 'fades away'. It's perfect for this situation, and I wanted to use it in context and I did!

A fedora

On the desk

You worked on

The chair

That once held you

Now holds empty air

The shirts

Your loved ones wear

With your name

Your own army

But you’re not here

To command it.

A piano

Standing alone

At the end of the hall

Dust falls on the keys

A coat of proof

Of your absence

Thick silence in the air

The music has become evanescent.

You’re everywhere

In these objects

But they’re just objects.

Not you

You’re nowhere.
