Words, so easily spoken
No concern for the feelings of another
It leaves behind people who are broken
By what we say to each other

Words, they cut so deep
Whether serious or in jest
Words to ourselves we should keep
If we know that it's not for the best

Don't cause hurt or pain
Think before you speak
What do you think you can gain?
By stomping on the one who is weak

Count your words one by one
If you do that, you're one in a million
It can cause someone to stay or run
Think before you offer your opinion

Don't use words lightly
Use it to encourage, to uplift
Even if change appears slightly
Your words can keep someone adrift

So let us all try
To speak a word that is kind
Life is swiftly passing by
Think before you speak your mind
