Today it is that bud
Unfurling in that gentle light
Full bloom under a midnight sky
Tickled by a gentle breath
My listless sigh
Today its soft petals breathe
Of life, fragility, beauty
The softest of touches tempers it
Withering on the brink
A single petal a flutter and flit
Today that single crimson fall
Is not enough to destroy the whole
Hindered but not torn by sorrow
More beautiful for its fragility
Today it is whole but what of tomorrow?
