IN THE HEREAFTER
What fallen men have failed to see they shall see
Through ages unending and life immortal
What God has done’s unerring
His word infallible
His majesty omnipotent
His person omnipresent
His knowledge and wisdom omniscient
That for all He’s done in our poor lives
Enslaved to sin and chiefest of transgressors
Ever doubting His providence and
Unfailing might and prowess
Whether it brought pain or joy
Through honor or humiliation
Allowed in His infinite counsels
All was necessary for our salvation
And should have done better if
We took it all without debate or complaints
Trusting that great intellect
Whose utmost stretch knows no bound
