Same-Old

If tomorrow comes and becomes today, and the next day follows in this suit, what differentiates the past, present, and future?

It is the same-old, same-old.
Yet again, I unwillingly go to work.
ONly to find my thoughts lost in murk.
Joey, fron the front counter, has a ready-made smile.
IN this instant, as always, I seek to run from the mile.

It is the same-old, same-old.
I pretend-listen to the angry calls,
from men of stature tiny, average, or talls.
They shriek at me for something I can not fix.
For in a puddle of blood and sadness, I seek to mix.

It is the same-old, same-old.
The boss asks me into his room.
His scent continues to remind me of some death fume.
He inches ever closer, then carresses my back.
Inside, I want a revolver to kill this whack.

It is the same-old, same-old.
I leave him sleepy, while I, still awake.
Unsatisfied, uninterested, I look to the window's lake.
To be free, unrestrained, away from this.
That is what I seek; the world left behind, I will not miss.

It is the same-old, same-old.
Nothing ever amounts to anything.
The timer of death will surely soon ring.
What have I done? What is left behind?
Only that which I shut up in my forever-speaking mind.

It is the same-old, same-old.
The meaninglessness, the nothingness clusters my space.
Unties the remnants of my being, the lace.
I fall apart; it is that time again:
5:30. I leave with the same feeling, damn.

It is the same-old, same-old.
I step closer to the lake that beckons me forward, maybe fall in.
Reach the liberty sought out so badly by my heart's bin.
Closer, closer, if only just to pretend.
FARCE. Never will I jump, tomorrow will be today again, the bleakness will not bend.
