Amidst the Debris of Time

In a dusty box I found you,
You smiled and met my eye,
But you were just a faded picture
Amidst the debris of time.

A time long past when love was strong,
We vowed we'd never part,
But promises were broken,
You left and broke my heart.

Now with your face before me,
A relic of the past,
I know you've gone forever,
Young love that didn't last.

One last time I kiss your lips,
We meet each others eye,
Then I return you to that dusty box
Amidst the debris of time.
