HEARTBREAK (patspoems)

Poetry By: patspoems

The feelings of despair at the sudden loss of a loved one - hope it isn't too morbid. It was written for a challenge with the title Heartbreak.

As morning breaks and I once again awake
To another day of grief and dreadful longing
We lived, we loved,
You'd vowed "I'd never leave you"
Those magic words that made me feel complete.

My safety net when others let me down,
Always there, my love, my only you.
But now you're gone, you were taken without warning
In the blinking of an eye.
No words of love were spoke - no goodbye!

A sudden darkness engulfs me
Swallows me up body and soul,
I call your name but you don't answer,
Life as it was, never more will be,
Just alone with heartbreak that is, forever, me
