Poetry By: patspoems

I listened to a woman on the news defending the actions of her teenage son who had just been convicted of setting fire to his school. She made every excuse under the sun and was convinced he wasn't bad. This poem came into my head - hope it brings a smile

I'm sure he didn't mean it

My lovely teenage son
When he set the house on fire
It was only meant for fun.
The fireman were real angry
See they didn't understand
He wanted to skip school that day
To see his favourite Band.
He didn't mean to break the door
On his Father's car
Or smash the mirror in the hall,
Well he had been to the bar,
But when he punched that policeman
He was taking it too far.
I'm sure he didn't mean it
When he told me to drop dead
You see I called him up for school
But he'd planned to stay in bed.
He really can be very good
When people blame him I feel sad,
Oh! my Lord I heard a bang
I think he's shot his Dad,
I'm sure he didn't mean it!
