Ancient Slumber

Poetry By: PaulChafer
Poetry

Not really a 'Stand alone poem' but now the beginning of my second novel 'Wizard's Wrath. A pantoum, a format I adore as it begins the poem with one line and ends the poem with the same line thus sealing the work in a neat package, or so I feel.

Ancient Slumber

Deep, deep, deep underground,

Bygone ages become unwound,

Here, there, be dragons,

From beyond the time of yore.

All fast asleep and dreaming,

Waiting, to awaken, once more.

Down, down, down far below,

In secret passages, dragons' know,

In caverns formed of molten rock,

They are resting safe and sound.

Preparing to emerge from,

Deep, deep, deep underground.
