Lay Down Your Arms

Poetry By: PaulChafer

Inspired by Zoe Band Carissa Picard and Practically Enchanted, three charming ladies all of whom have given me inspiration with their own work concerning soldiers. I've already said too much, I think the poem speaks for itself.

For the gentle people

Of living mother Earth;

For the smallest child

Innocent since birth:

Lay down your arms.

For the weeping widow

Whose broken heart bleeds,

For her pointless loss

Her ruptured soul pleads:

Lay down your arms.

For the orphans of men

Trapped by masculine duty;

For future generations of

Untouched, flawless beauty:

Lay down your arms.

Spare all of your brothers'

From death's cruel knife,

Awaken your conscience,

Respect all precious life:

Lay down your arms.

For the sake of us all:

Lay down your arms.

Lay down your arms.
