A perfect wife,
A perfect mother.
They count on me,
To be some other.
A perfect daughter,
A perfect friend.
They all want me to pretend.
A perfect body,
A perfect mind.
They want it all,
But they’re so blind.
They cannot see
What lies behind
The perfect mask
I wear tonight.
I smile
I laugh
I tell a story
While deep inside
My heart feels sorry
For the little girl
Hiding inside
The one they don’t know about,
The one they don’t like.
She cries alone
And looks at me
While I tell the world
That she’s not me.
