The Elevator

In the middle of a chaotic elevator,
Going up to the top for an interview.
A baby crying nonstop,
I think it has stuck gas. A child throwing a temper tantrum.
While the parents argue on what
To do with the child.

Valley Girls who must be fifteen
Gabbing, using every other word "like"
Using as an adjective, verb and a noun
Talking about the cute boy in class.

A Couple showing inappropriate public affection,
I think they are going to have sex in front of everyone
Get a room!
All the other strangers talking over the chaos.

I get smaller and smaller almost invisible
As the elevator becomes over stuffed turkey.

The tantrum kid lets out the most blood curdling scream
Out of frustration,
Causing my eyes to twitch as if I had tourette's.
Everyone is quiet for only half a second,
As his parents try to settle him,
When they no sooner go back to arguing.

The infant is still crying with gas.
More people try to come in.
Everyone invading my personal space.
I can feel their icky breath on my neck.

I get stuck next to a guy who is wearing all red.
He looks like a human fire engine.
His voice is so high like the siren,
Making my eyes twitch more.

Everything is crowded.
All the
Noise is killing me.
Now I wish I was
Deaf!

One-by-one
Leaving the elevator,
Making time slow.
12th floor seems
Like a life sentence.
