Green Eyed Love
*****
I walk away determined not to cry, arms wrapped tight
Not really feeling it anyway.
Not until I get home...
*****
Slip out of my clothes that smell of you
And fall to my sheets with your taste upon my lips
The realization that you will be gone, hits
*****
And the breath is sucked from me as I cry.
You woke me in the morning, you came
One last time before hitting the road
*****
Realizing to late that we had touched upon love
Then let go of what we just couldn’t keep
*****
I saved some pictures, gave you a few too.
Were the purest shade of green, when shining with tears and love.
*****
You eventually sent me a poem, letting me go.
And I wrote to tell you about my new boyfriend, you hated that.
What did we know?
*****
We were summer lovers doomed to part
Allotted a handful of sunsets,
