My Independence Day

Poetry By: RaisinGirl

This is in reference to certain relationships that I've experienced in the past...

You seemed normal at first, to everyone including me

but you let us all down when your raincloud burst

and it poured down heavily onto the pavement

creating bombshell tears in a haven of fog and mist

blurring the vision of my eyes and your own

so you escaped into your little world as an excuse

for not taking the blame once again

for how could you sin, being perfect and all

But I know who you really are

a vulnerable soul in a warrior's disguise

with your helmet and shield and armour

and me with my sword and dagger

Who's laughing now?

No one except for your imaginary world friends

I no longer feel dominated by your existence

for I have seen the lies behind your mouth

Posing and pondering and egotistical

Your arrogance drives me further away

because I see right through you

don't forget not everyone has seen this side of you

but I know what I feel, what I see

and in a sense of articulacy

I am able to break free from your pretentious popularity

No longer will I enslave myself to please you

You have no control over me

nor yourself for that matter,

in fact just let yourself go

to the places you will become someday

Run away from it all

It's my INDependence Day,
