what should I do
with all the beauty?
shall I consume
the rust of glory?
or place a hand
over the furious flame?
let it glow or not
I will distrust sanity...
for the curious gaze
of your granite eyes...
bounces off of me
and onto the mirror...
where you reach in
and grasp my thoughts...
if only it were enough
to calm down the chills...
brought on by winter's
envious companions...
I feel a bit distant
though you clench on...
surviving the tides
of bittersweet madness...
maybe one day
I will give it all up...
and within your arms
I shall willingly die...
while you sing to me softly
knowing you are not...
just another passerby
*(re-edited version; dedication to the person I love most, my husband, my soulmate)
