Nigh me, long stands the silence, O friend!
Mute its time, that by now, in betwixt
Your love and party has ever perceived, trends
And designs of our ‘Ally’ – in past exists
How fresh were then! Our dreams and designs
And rosy aspiration floated, on a cloudy fore
Yet the will to achieve, maintained its prime
Oh! Our rivalled strain was, as if before
Never noticed of twin tyros, surging a field
Dark and unfamiliar yet unhindered our move
Safe and sound, protected under shield
Of a gold plated ally, flourished mid groves
Of our love unbound, fruits unripe at top.
What fastening in between! What winning rage rife!
To reach goal; Oh! That churning unstopped.
How time with youth and vigour, in strife?
How occupied we roved! Mid envious eyes
And flaunted wild gossips, scorns, at us.
Still I recall the truth and lies
We discussed of the elite, lived about us.
But the day befell! The denounce of heaven
You with drew on mission, abandoned I was! Alone
For me, a route chosen, by destiny then
As faster is time, no room for moan
The time assuaging, clouded my solemn recall
Recurrently that erupted of some binding spell
Many wanting acts too, influenced my senses all
To ease this severing, my awaiting as well
For you, sole you! My love, my chum!
Thus untied a knot, its memory lost!
Several cheering then worked to become
A fitting solvent to this nectar lost
Yet unfilled the vacant, now hour has come
When the sweet melting drips through smoky folds
To wake me up of my dreary course
Where all dull running and practice untold
Seem to halt amid the recourse,
Stirring I heed as per usage old
Oh how! The sweet retention of my love works
To break this monotony of business, now gradually eases
And calms the anger of misery, which lurks
Behind the hectic of life, all its ill ceases
As recollection of the old love, transforms me
And leads me to new sentiments, I can feel
With chastening of inner eyes, how well I see!
Magic of the love, wounding round the reel
Of my customary acts, now turn a pleasure.
Oh! The remembrance of this old song
Charms me, both in weariness and leisure
And helps going, abstains me from routine wrongs
That O Dear, you ever tabooed in usual calls.
Yet still some times when your absence haunts me
The radiance of your sweet love, lets recall
Our old association, its agilities, gossips, I see
And sense without you, for this chaste bond
Is again visible to silent eyes, its fragrance
As of a young flower, now spreads beyond
My utmost satisfaction crosses the farthest circumference
I could draw, around my earthly delights
With love, that now appears ‘a blissful alight’.
