I was only young when you did the things you did,

All too much to understand for just a little kid.

There was no one to protect me, to tell you this was wrong,

To make the demons disappear from the nights that seemed so long.

The kind of love you gave to me was all too much to bear,

And though the scars have long since healed, the memories still there.

The way you forced your evil will over my brother and then me

Then made us hide the bruises so that no one would see.

I now have a daughter of my own and I love her more each day,

I'm happy and it's been so long since I've felt that way.

And as the years pass by, I swear I'll never cry a tear,

My daughter and I are happy and I'm glad that you're not here.
