From the first time I opened my eyes,

I knew you’d be the only man I could trust.

From the first time I rode on a boat,

I knew I was safe, because I was in your arms.

From the first time I wanted to give up,

I knew you’d be my biggest supporter,

Telling me to push on.

From the first time I made a mistake,

I knew you’d be upset,

But I knew you’d be the one that could remember who I really was.

From the first time I walked down the graduation isle,

I knew you were proud of me all along the way.

In the future when I start to date,

I’ll remember you’re the only man I can trust.

In the future when I want to give up on my dreams,

I’ll remember all your pep talks,

That I never listened to until to late.

In the future when I get married,

I’ll remember I’ll always have a home with you and mom.

In the future when I have kids,

I’ll remember all the great advice,

I got from you and use it.

In the future when my kids want a bed time story,

I’ll remember to read them little bear big bear.

Whether it’s past, present, or future, I love you

And think you’re an amazing dad. J
