A WALK TO NOWHERE

When I was young,

My father would take me walking.

"Where are we going?" I would ask.

"There and back!" came his reply.

"What for?"

"Just enjoy it..."

And so, we walked to nowhere, turned around, and came home.

Pointless! I thought.

Now, years later, I cannot wait to walk to nowhere.

Why?

Because on the way to nowhere,

Is somewhere.

My Father also took this trip with me at his heels - now I'd give anything to be able to walk half as far and back again without being crippled.

Hi Irwin. I never take the surrounding country-side for granted. Today I took my dad to Ladybower reservoir, where
they were flying a Lancaster (dambusters), Spitfire, Hurricane, and Tornado. Got a few good pics. Ricky.

Oh Wow what a special treat, and a wonderful read
'on the way to nowhere is somewhere' ^_^ ^_^
thankx Ricky ^_^

Hi KT. I was pleased with that line, though I say it myself.
Sometimes by focusing on the destination, we lose sight of the journey and all that it offers. Take care and God bless your journey. Ricky.

Oh, Ricky. How beautiful. I absolutely love the pic!! In the words of one of my favorite bands, "Life's a journey, not a destination".... So, for me, it's not about the Somewhere, it's about the way there.... But I think that was what your father meant.

Hi MAmber. I'm glad he encouraged me to walk with him. I love the outdoors and being in the countryside more than ever these days. Even to go on familiar journeys...there's always something new to see. Like hearing certain songs, where we
notice a nuance for the first time despite hearing the song a hundred times before. Who is the band u mention?? Ricky.

I agree, I love walking!

Thee and me both!!

Sorry, I missed this one, Ricky!! What a lovely and delightful poem! Looking back on those days, the walk to nowhere with your father is special. Those are the days you will cherish as the years fly by. Happy memory making.....Jerry

Hi Bubbly. Nice to hear from you. True words, I hope I can pass on similar wisdom to my two kids. The picture is one I
took from the top of our hill a couple of winters ago.
Will make time to read your latest offerings. THANKS.Ricky

Hello,
There is just something so refreshing about ur work, its got charm and an ilusive quality that helps it to transcend beyond the mundane. The words and imagery though minimalistic were somehow inspired, gr8 going!
P.S you've really made me envious(pout!!!)
