Black Space.

A poem I wrote after being turned down for a primary PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education).

Failed a maths test, but held my head high.

Got whacked in the face but my face stayed dry.

Had to buy new glasses, that tore me apart.

Got turned down for a PGCE ... that broke my heart.

The glass walls are shattered, my face is battered,

nothing I do makes sense any more. Life threw me

the biggest curveball ever and now I don't know what

to do ... and the black space looms again.

The pain looms in my heart and I don't know what I

can say.  My parents are sad, my fiancé's upset, and

yet I remain serene throughout it all. Talk about the

calm before the storm.
