I'm Not Made That Way.

Poetry By: Rowenya

I have tried to be a strict Muslim, but it just isn't working out. My life was set in stone in December and I can't change it now. Perhaps when I have some more free time I can see about becoming stricter.

I was not built to pray

and to be told how to

live my life but complete

and utter strangers.

I was built to believe

in whatever I wanted,

to practice my faith

however I wanted.

I was not built to answer

to random men who seem

to think they can tell me

what to do.

I was built to answer to myself

and to go by the moral code

I was given when I was born

I was not built to be strict about

my faith, or to be there to teach

other people how to live their

lives - that's not me.

I was built to run free through

the wilderness that we call life,

to respect Nature and to live

the way I want to.

So please do not tell me how to

live my life, or how to practice

my religion - I think you'll find

that it's up to me.
