Requited Hope

It's always good to hope.

You try not to care,
Despite how much you really do.
Sometimes you mean nothing to someone
Who means everything to you.
You give, they take.
You smile, they walk past.
You think something's there,
When it wasn't meant to last.
Or perhaps it was never meant to begin.
If love is a game,
It's a game you were never meant to win.
But that is stupid, foolish stuff
To bet against yourself
To close yourself off,
Leaving your hopes on a shelf.
Because there's surely someone out there
In a sea so big and wide.
You drawn to them and they to you,
Like the shore and the tide.
So perhaps there's still hope for you yet
Despite the unrequited love
Because there is no need to fret,
Whilst awaiting an angel from above.
There is a love that's waiting,
A love that is true.
Someone to whom you mean everything,
As much as they mean everything to you.
