The Muse

'Til waking see and crash-time blue,

When we cry, we cry in song.

There were two, and two I knew.

Seven seeds, seven roses grew,

Fall and fall, all winter long.

'Til waking see and crash-time blue.

Cut stem, flake, burst and new,

But you were death, you were wrong,

There were two, and two I knew.

The night was black, stars were few.

A cold sleep I slept, whispering, gone.

'Til waking see and crash-time blue.

Ink of my pen, black ink tattoo,

How do we know who we're among?

There were two, and two I knew.

And then she left, no! She flew-

She's gone.

'Til waking see and crash-time blue,

There were two and now I know.

Thank you! I agree its meaning is a bit obscure, I think this is because of the strict format of the villanelle.
