just be true

This is a poem I have written, having recently found out that my brother is gay. We have always been very close, and it hurts me to think that he couldn't tell me for so long, being scared of what people would think. So here is what I think...

My brother, but also my best friend. Being ourselves, never having to pretend. You know my secrets and I thought I knew yours, But really you were hiding behind a closet door. Were you ashamed of what you feel? Or trying to deny it so it wouldn't be real? You can tell me anything and I won't judge, I'm not the type to hold a grudge. I don't hate you for something you cant control, It's who you are, it's in your soul. I love you no matter who you are. No matter what, you're in my heart. Forget about people who put you down, If they aren't in your shoes then they don't know. Never be ashamed of being true, Because if you ever changed then you wouldn't be you!
