Sluggishly dragging my feet through this existence
Moments surrounding me
Suffocating me…
Crushing my soul under the weight of sorrows

Life aims to break down the individual
Leaving the collective to suffer in universal silence
We wish for release, but continue to tread on
Through the sludge of our mundane sense of being

I lie in wait of answers and joy
As if it will rain down from above
Emanating from a source unseen and unknown except only in stories
Never to make its presence known in this reality
Yet, I wait and pray
Eyes fixated on the stars above
Glistening upon the blackness of the night sky

Even illusions become distorted as my consciousness begins to fade
Hoping my mind is penetrating with the God above
But, alas, my mind is simply drifting into sleep
So much for the release I deeply desire tonight…
