Breaking Rain

By: Sambelini

Page 1, Descriptive poem about a rainstorm. An experiment in sound devices.

Breaking, breaking waves that rake the air
And hate the sky and beat the lying Earth below;
That fall, fearing not the faceless ground
Or race of diving fates.
They came, myriad flakes of rain and sleet
In fleets of shards, crushed and scattered, shattered
From sheets of ice; feeble strikes by gods against stale clouds,
Breaking, breaking the ice in unlaboured beats
And layered sheets, between which, time
And time again, they feign defeat
